Gravestone Inscription for Daniel Sleeman and his wife

This stone is errected to the meory of Ann wife of Daniel Sleeman of this Parish who departed this life on the 27th day of February 1859. Aged 68 years. For his anger endureth but a moment, in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning Psalm 30 v 5.
Also to the memory of the above said Daniel Sleeman who died on the 29th day of February 1867. Aged 78 years. The Lord is nigh unto all that cometh to him.

The Grave is in St. Minver, Churchyard, St. Minver, Cornwall.

Interesting Points

Ann Sleeman and her sister Elizabeth Sleeman married John James Durrant and George Nathaniel Durrant, brothers.  Both the brothers worked in the Jewellery trade as did John Sleeman brother to Ann and Elizabeth.  Ann Sleeman appears to have had her first child by John James Durrant before marriage.  John James Durrant appears to have worked in silver as there is a London Assay mark of John James Durrant (j j d). 

William Abraham Flack also worked in metals, and his daughter Ann Flack married John Sleeman one month before William Abraham Flack married Jane Sleeman, John's sister, making Jane her brother's stepmother in law.

Gravestone: Sacred to the memory, Susan daughter of Daniel and Ann Sleeman of this Parish who died in the blessed hope of a glorious ressurection, on the 8th Jun 1858 aged 21 years. In the midst of life we are in death of whom may seek for succour, but of thee o lord. Also near this stone to the body of Richard, son of the above said parents who died on the 11th day of April 1865. Aged 47 years. The lord careth for the fatherless and widow.
