Albert Hall was the eldest son of James Hall and Hannah Parker Maule. His father died when he was 11, and he continued to live with his mother in Bristol, moving to Clifton and working for his Uncle William Alexander Maule as a Nurseryman. Albert Hall married Elizabeth Ann Morris in 1869 and was then working as an accountant. In 1901 he was boarding with his son Lewis in Camberwell, where the wedding took place of his daughter Marion Maule Morris Hall to Albert Charles Smith in January 1901.
